“This is something I was delighted about: Some tools, like Transifex and Smartling, only allow you to export a .csv document, which you’d typically have to import into an Excel file before running a QA check in Xbench. With Qangaroo, you can skip that step entirely and upload the .csv file directly into the program.

The results of the QA check in Qangaroo are much clearer than in Xbench. You can also immediately ignore the FPs (false positives), removing them from the list, which makes it even easier to focus on the errors you still need to fix. • Qangaroo supports a lot of file types, like .html, .csv, .xlz, and .xlf.
• The QA function is excellent and picks up far more errors than other tools. For example, if two segments are identical except for a number, Qangaroo still checks for source/target inconsistencies.
• Qangaroo takes language rules into account. For instance, Finnish quotation marks (” ”) always trigger Unpaired Quotes errors in other tools, but not in Qangaroo, because it understands the rules.

“You can customize exactly which text you want to check for both QA and spellcheck in Word. For example, you can include or exclude No Match, Fuzzy, Perfect, and CM segments separately, and choose whether to include locked segments or not. I find this especially useful when running a spellcheck on a document with a lot of locked segments.

Additionally, you can easily upload a termbase to check terminology as part of your QA process or simply to reference it. The termbase remains saved even if you delete your XLIFF file, so you don’t have to re-upload it each time. This saves a lot of hassle.”
